STILLING LEDIG:

DN Media Group is looking for an Editor in Chief – Seafood & Aquaculture

About the position:

Position type: Permanent

Location: Bergen, Oslo, London, Stamford

Application deadline: 17. april

About the company

DN Media Group provides specialist journalism, breaking news and market insight to a global audience. We own and develop leading international titles across sectors including seafood/aquaculture, shipping and energy.

We are bringing together Fiskeribladet, IntraFish.com and IntraFish.no into one combined area with the ambition to strengthen our position and accelerate growth — with a particular focus on the aquaculture industry and its global value chain. We are now looking for a Editor-in-Chief / Publisher to lead this area with clear editorial direction, strong execution and a commercial understanding of subscription-led B2B media.

About the brands

  • Fiskeribladet is Norway’s leading news provider for fisheries, with journalists based along the coast and a strong business focus.

  • IntraFish delivers independent news and analysis of the Norwegian and global seafood and aquaculture industry, with an international editorial footprint and a strong market position.

Your mission

You will have overall responsibility to:

  • Set a shared editorial direction and prioritise the stories, themes and formats that strengthen our position and drive growth primarily in aquaculture

  • Lead editorial teams across languages, platforms and geographies — with clear goals, roles and workflows

  • Ensure high quality, pace and relevance across breaking news, analysis, investigations and opinion

  • Develop our subscription proposition and user experience in close collaboration with DN Media Group`s product, data/insight, marketing and commercial teams — while safeguarding editorial independence

  • Sharpen the value proposition for our core audiences: leaders and decision-makers across aquaculture, seafood, suppliers and services, government and finance

  • Represent the area externally and build networks across industry, regulators, research communities and investors

Key responsibilities

  • Editorial strategy and prioritisation: defining the editorial agenda for aquaculture and fishing (biology/fish health, technology, sustainability and regulation, markets and trade, M&A/finance, geopolitics and supply chain)

  • Leadership and culture: hiring, developing and performance-managing talent; setting clear standards and fostering a strong collaborative culture

  • Publishing and format mix: breaking news, explanatory journalism, data-led reporting, and audio/video/briefings where they add value

  • Growth and KPIs: ownership of agreed targets related to subscriptions, reach, engagement and/or retention (to be defined as part of the hiring process)

  • Governance and compliance: maintaining editorial integrity, ethical standards and robust processes for sourcing and quality assurance

About you

You have:

  • Substantial editorial leadership experience (Editor-in-Chief, Editor, Managing Editor or equivalent) from business/B2B media, finance/industry reporting, or international specialist titles

  • Good working knowledge of press law and ethics, primarily in Norway.

  • A track record of growing audiences and subscriptions in digital products

  • A strong understanding of — or the ability to learn quickly into — aquaculture and the seafood value chain

  • Confidence leading across countries, languages and time zones

  • High integrity and sound judgement in complex editorial decisions

  • Excellent written and spoken English

  • Written and spoken Norwegian is preferable, but not essential (depending on base location)

Desirable:

  • Experience covering global seafood/aquaculture, energy/shipping, or other capital-intensive industries with significant regulatory complexity

  • Experience with data-informed editorial workflows and subscription product development

Personal attributes

  • Clear, inclusive and decisive leadership style

  • Commercially minded without compromising editorial independence

  • Curious, analytical and comfortable operating at high pace and under scrutiny

What you can expect

  • A pivotal role in a global media group with strong specialist brands and ambitious growth plans

  • Close collaboration with expert teams across editorial, product, data, marketing and commercial functions

  • The opportunity to shape a leading editorial voice on aquaculture and seafood globally

  • Flexible location (Norway, London or the US) within an international working environment
